Whitetail Observatory is a private facility located on the edge of the hill country in Georgetown, Texas.

The two-story observatory houses the telescope under an automated dome on the second floor. The first floor library offers a view of history through many vintage NASA memorabilia commemorating our nations space program and some of the latest images from the Hubble Space Telescope.

Whitetail Observatory's goal is to open eyes to the sky. The night sky is a natural resource often overlooked as residential and commercial development expands beyond the city limits, causing light pollution to reduce our ability to see the night objects. Using the dark sky of Georgetown to show off the wonders of the evening, Whitetail Observatory hosts private star parties for scouts, school groups and other events upon request.

Mounted in the observatory is a Meade 12" LX-200. Outside the building is a pier with power connector for mounting a 10" LX-200 for large group outdoor viewing. A camera connection for the Cannon Rebel camera is available for use for astrophotography.

The telescope, dome, and ccd imaging system are computer controlled allowing for simplified operation.
